Membership Information
Classes of Membership &
Dues
AIA
Members Architects who are legal residents of
Virginia, and have been licensed and registered by any state, the
District of Columbia, or any US Territory, may become Members of The
American Institute of Architects, AIA Virginia Society,

Associate
Members Persons without architectural licenses under
the supervision of a licensed architect in a professional or
technical capacity directly related to the practice of architecture,
or persons employed in circumstances recognized by licensing
authorities as constituting credit toward architectural registration
may become an Associate Member of The American Institute of
Architects, AIA Virginia Society, and AIA Blue
Ridge chapter.

Allied Members Designers,
artists, engineers contractors or people
working in a field related to architecture may become Allied
Members. Allied Membership is designed for those
individuals who do not qualify as AIA or Associate AIA members,
however are employed outside the architectural practice and are
involved in positions allied to the field of architecture.
Allied members have the opportunity to share in all Institute
resources, programs, services, and activities establishing
relationships with architects that go beyond sales and specifications.

Friends of the
Blue Ridge Business' who wish to
participate and support the AIA Blue Ridge may do so by becoming a
Friend of the Blue Ridge. The business will receive notice of
all local AIA meetings and events and will have a link and contact
information placed on the AIA Blue Ridge Web site for their
business. There is a $500 annual fee. Contact Jeff

Emeritus Membership Any
AIA Member who has maintained membership for 15 years and has
reached the age of 70, or has reached the age of 60 and is retired,
or is incapacitated so as to be unable to work in the profession may
become an Emeritus Member of The American Institute of Architects,
AIA Virginia Society, and AIA Blue Ride
chapter.
Fellowship
(FAIA) Members can be nominated for Fellowship by
their local chapter, state association, 10 individual members
nationwide, or by 5 Fellows of the nominee’s chapter or state
association after the member has completed 10 cumulative years of
AIA membership.
